A tradition as old as time, well at least our marriage! A Hill family trip to the pumpkin patch.
By a timing miracle, we were able to sneak the pumpkin patch in on the very last day possible. And I'm so glad we did. This has been a standing tradition for us since were married in 2013, so to miss a year would be sad. But, more than that, I know that these seasons where I have little ones to take into the pumpkin fields is limited. And as fast as time is flying, I don't want to miss out. I wish I could put a pause on time, slow it down, wind it up somehow. But the reality is that we keep moving forward, so it's important to slow the buzz of our own lives down enough to enjoy the intentional bits of life that really matter.
So with our spare 2 hours this past Sunday, we drove to one of our favorite places and let the kids run wild in a practically empty space. It was so quiet and peaceful, not to mention beautiful. While we didn't need any more pumpkins, we did pick up some canned cherry butter (a personal favorite), some canned dilly beans (if you haven't tried them, you need to), and peach cider for the drive home.
We'll be back to Joe's in a few weeks to cut down our Christmas tree. That tradition just might be my favorite!
