Happy New Year! Let me introduce you to something fun and bubbly! This is easily a new favorite treat of mine. Whether paired with a fun dinner, a refreshment for a party, or simply just because, this Blueberry Lemonata is as easy to make as it is pretty to look at. And once you've tasted it, you'll be hooked!
I first had this drink a little over a year ago, but recently had it again while out for a birthday dinner to celebrate our new four-year-old. Like any good pregnancy craving goes, I needed more and had to figure out how to recreate the drink at home. Turns out it's quite simple to make. And I love that it's a little part homemade and a little part pre-prepared.
- What You'll Need
- Blueberry Simple Syrup
- 1 cup water
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 cup fresh blueberries
- Sparkling Lemonade
- 12 oz. can of frozen lemonade concentrate (thawed)
- 6 cups sparkling water
- All Together
- Ice
- Fresh blueberries for topping
- Straws (I recommend sipping this drink through a straw - also good for stirring the drink together)
- What You'll Do
- Blueberry Simple Syrup
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, dissolve the sugar into the water.
- Once dissolved, add the blueberries and bring to a boil.
- Boil the blueberries for 5 minutes; they will look like they're starting to deflate.
- Pour the mixture through a sieve, into a bowl. Using a small spatula, gently press the berries in the sieve to release extra juices. Set the blueberry simple syrup to the side.
- Sparkling Lemonade
- In a pitcher, combine the thawed lemonade concentrate and the sparkling water. Stir well to combine.
- All Together
- In a tall glass, add 1/3 cup of the blueberry simple syrup.
- Next add in a desired amount of ice (I prefer crushed).
- Top the glass off with the sparkling lemonade (anywhere from 1 to 1.5 cups worth)
- Add fresh blueberries for a little something pretty + a straw for stirring and sipping.
- I recommend stirring the drink before drinking. Enjoy!!
