Oh My Gourd!

October 4, 2017

This past weekend finally brought some cooler fall temperatures to the mountains of Virginia, which meant it was time to head to the pumpkin patch. We opted to go before the afternoon nap time, and while it was lovely having the whole patch to ourselves for most of the time we were there, the morning sun was a little harsh for capturing beautiful photos. Regardless, we still had an amazing time in one of my favorite places.

As is tradition, we caravanned to the patch with my brother-in-law, sister-in-law, and their twin boys. Baby boy #3 is due this month, and we are all eagerly awaiting his arrival! The seven of us took a hayride up and over the hill to the pumpkins, all sprawled out with the mountains as their backdrop.

Like I said, morning light is not the camera's best friend (see above photo), unless it's overcast (my favorite kind of fall day!). But, this photo was way too cute not to post. We will head back to the patch later in October, and I already know we are going post-nap, in the late afternoon. #yesplease

This girl was ecstatic about all the pumpkins + the open space for all the exploring. More than that she was so happy to have her boys there. Greer can't get enough of those cousins of hers, and I think it's fair to say that they are just as crazy about her.

Greer tried picking up every pumpkin, whether it perfectly fit in her hand or it was literally her size. She knows no bounds and has quite the determination. I know another pumpkin lover when I see one, and she's definitely my girl.

You guys! This picture is so telling of just how fast our littles grow! Look at them last year! I can't even! In the photo from 2016, husband is actually laying down behind the trio, holding Greer up, who could sit on her own, but was not trusted on the edge of a high-up wooden tractor. Now look at them!

Each year, we try to document the girls and the boys. Mostly for fun to see how it will change over the coming years. We are currently outnumbered by boys, and that will only grow when our newest nephew makes his arrival.

p.s. This adorable sweater came from my friend's boutique. And it is perfect for fall, which is why I snagged it up as soon as I saw it!

Even if the sun was too shiny for perfect pictures, it was a gorgeous and crisp morning to be in one of my favorite places. And I grabbed the most beautiful pumpkins that have now found their home on my porch. I'm already looking forward to our next visit in a couple of weeks. What's your favorite part about pumpkin patches?
