There is so much truth to this season being the most wonderful time of the year. Christmas is magical all the way around. From the twinkling lights to the tartan and plaid, everything about December is just plain cozy. I could go on an on about my favorites (the scent of balsam, the red cup, red and green everywhere), but I think I'll let my decorations do a little bit of the talking for me.
So come on in! I wish I could offer you a cup of hot cocoa and share a plate of cookies with you!
I'm all about texture and variety when it comes to decorating. Instead of going with traditional garland on my mantel, I wanted to find something that brought in a new textural element. So when I found this glittery stick garland, I knew exactly where it belonged. On my mantel of course! I wound some battery operated LEDs through it to add that extra special touch, and because I love twinkling lights just about everywhere!
This year I had a clear goal in mind when decorating for the tree. Since we've been married, husband and I have used old plastic ornaments that I bought during college. So this was the year to purchase ornaments that we both loved and fit our style. We went for mercury glass ornaments (because swoon), some wooden reindeer for variety, and matte, Christmas colored jingle bells, which we paired with our keepsake ornaments and I think our tree is just lovely.
Next year, my goal is to find the right garland to go around the tree. Decorating has always been about slowly accumulating the right pieces. And it looks like that's the tradition we are keeping with! Maybe I'll have luck after Christmas this year with a great bargain find on just the right garland. Fingers crossed!
Forgive our unfinsihed end table. Regardless of its state, it still needed some holiday décor. I found this cute sign at TJMaxx back in November and have waited excitedly to put it out. The jingle bells were a last minute touch to the cloche when I realized we didn't need hundreds of jingle bells on the Christmas tree. And I'm quite happy with the way they look all snug in there!
The Christmas sprucing doesn't stop in the family room. It goes straight into the dining room as well. And even to the master bedroom (that's coming, just keep scrolling!). I love subtle touches for the holidays all over my home. And yes, I definitely think that sometimes you can have too darn much. But, I'm hopeful in thinking that I find a decent balance between just right and too much!
My dining room always has a wreath for each door. And the table centerpiece is meticulously laid out to reflect the season. I like to incorporate the same elements all over (see the jingle bells) to make one cohesive look.
The master gets just a few touches of holiday cheer. Husband and I love having twinkling lights in our room, making it all the cozier.
And that concludes the tour! I only slightly apologize for all of the photos :) One of my favorite parts of blogging is being able to look back on seasons, memories, and events of years past. So I love documenting thoroughly, and that means a whole lot of photos!
