Every Girl Link-Up || Valentine Touches

February 5, 2015

Who's happy that it's Thursday?? I know I sure am! And I'm also excited to be sharing some of the little ways I've spruced our home for Valentine's Day. Rachel from Floral and Fudge, and I are hosting our second Every Girl Link-Up today, and we want you to join!

We'll be sharing our Valentine touches and we want to see yours. How did you decorate your home for this holiday of love? Grab the button below, add it to your post, and link-up with us at the bottom of this post. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's Valentine décor!

I'm not a huge decorator for Valentine's, but I do love subtle touches. So this year, I went with a DIY décor route for sprucing up our home. It all started with these large pom poms. I have been obsessed with them from the start, and they have made the best way to subtly give some Valentine's personality to my console table.

The pom poms don't stop at the console table. Husband and I made miniature ones for the fireplace. I love them even more than the large ones. And if you do too, you can find them on our Etsy Shop

Next stop is our dining room. In January I put up boxwood wreaths on the two doors in our dining room. I am obsessed with them, and they will stay up until the fall wreaths come out. They provided so much color to the space, so I decided to add a little banner/bunting to the wreaths to give them a quick Valentine's flair. You can do so much with just card stock, jute, and hot glue!

On the opposite wreath I opted to write the Spanish version of "love", which is"amor," for a switch up instead of repeating "love."

Over our dining room doors that lead to the deck, I strung up some heart garland that I made two years ago. Again, card stock and jute (plus some staples) work some decoration magic! Don't mind that the hearts are upside down!

Another great way to add shades of pink and red to your home for the holiday is with candy. And it's a win win because it serves two purposes...as décor and as a sweet treat for you! These are Starburst minis!

The heart garland also made an appearance on the chalkboard that hangs in our kitchen. I thought it was a nice way to carry the Valentine touches to the kitchen in a subtle way.

Another way I like to bring in the shades of Valentine's Day is with everyday pieces around my house, like magazines. This issue of Family Circle was perfect for displaying. And thanks to my handy (and handsome) husband for building this custom magazine rack :) I'll be sharing his DIY tutorial for this next week!

And last, but not least is flowers! Flowers are perfect year round, and they're a beautiful touch to the home at any point in the year. So why not bring them in for Valentine's décor?! I didn't want to spend a lot on flowers, so I opted for simple flowers. The baby's breath was perfection and I loved adding it to the magazine rack!

Now let's get to linking up! Remember to grab the button (at the top of the post), and join Rachel and I in sharing some fabulous Valentine's décor!

And don't forget that we'll be linking up again next Thursday to share our All Chocolate Recipes!! Head HERE to see the Every Girl Link-Up schedule for the year!
